Pre-Bull 2008 : B and O on the ropes

Blood en OMO on the ropes

For the curious and sceptical – B & O are still on course for the start line having done ropes training a week ago without injury or withdrawal. In fact if we get to the start line we will be guaranteed to do no worse than 42nd out of the original 44.

After some initial confusion with the jumars our two girls, Tania and Laura, were toi toiing up the ropes like pros. Don’t be too surprised to see them joining Brian Wilkie’s circus as a high wire act.
For an old man who claims never to been on the ropes Jan “Biltong” Bezuidenhout was amazingly dextrous. He earned the “Biltong” name, not for being hard and tough, but for locking his prussic half way down a particularly fast abseil. Even threats to leave him there to dry like a piece of biltong failed to motivate him sufficiently to get his act together. Were it not for the school wanting their rope back he would probably still be hanging there.

And Oupa? Well my trauma counsellor says my reaction to heights is quite healthy, but, he respectfully suggests that it would be good for team morale if I sneak an adult sized incontinence nappy into my rucksack.

Anybody know of a reliable scuba diver in the Pretoria area? Tried floating my bike at Rietvlei. Must be willing to work at night because Nature Conservation are pissed off about the oil slick.

Vasbyt.
