X. 2012_1 Skyrun Lite 2012

Skyrun (Lite) 2012

Thanks Adrian, Mike and Pure Adventures team for another awesome (sorry no other word suffices even though this one has been overused to the point meaninglessness)  trip on the Witteberg.

I am sure that anyone who has done the  Skyrun  or Wartrail will agree that the views on those mountain ridges beat anything that IMAX theatre could dream up.

Furthermore its all in full 3-D. 4-D actually because IMAX will never be able to add the fourth dimension of danger and pain without risk of litigation.

I must confess that I resolved somewhere near Avoco - during the second hailstorm of an otherwise wet and very windy day - that I was 60 years and did not have to participate in this sort of madness anymore. But, somewhere before Bloem, on the road home, we started talking about next year and doing the full 100 km.

Last year I had the privilege to do at least part of the route with my wife Connie. This year I fulfilled my dream of sharing the full experience to Balloch with my daughter Christine and mates Jan “Biltong” Bezuidenhout and Nico “Rooi-Jakkalaas” Labuschagne, all ex-members of team Bloed en OMO. Peet, twin brother of Nico, and holder of many Comrades silver medals, also joined us to discover that he too could walk like a horse-broken cowboy after a race.
